MARVELL LANE is a boutique Australian brand that designs and sells lingerie, swimwear and clothing for busty women - D cups and up.
Based in Byron Bay and Brisbane, we are a small, energetic team whose mission is to create beautiful, fashion-forward garments for the busty community.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Pattern Maker and/or designer to join our team. Our current pattern-maker is retiring soon - she's been with us for 6 years!
MARVELL LANE has a unique opportunity for a multi-skilled individual with a keen eye for detail, and the ability to fully develop a product from concept through to delivery of bulk stock within specific timelines. You will work closely with the founder of the business, Rachael, and the role requires ongoing liaison with offshore suppliers.
Ideally, the successful candidate is looking for a part-time/contract role (or possibly a full-time position in a dual role) and is located in Byron Bay, Brisbane or the Gold Coast. However, the perfect candidate may be outside these areas too.
Our current pattern-maker will ensure all knowledge regarding fuller-bust pattern making will be handed over and provide guidance or mentoring.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patterns and make instructions for swimwear, lingerie and clothing.
- Create tech packs with all relevant information regarding technical drawings, make instructions, fabrics, trims and size specifications measurements.
- Conduct fittings and perform pattern and specification alterations.
- Prepare graded patterns and final tech pack information for bulk production.
- Coordinate samples and ensure all stakeholders are clearly informed of any changes from SMS to PPS to Bulk Production.
- Communicate with O/S factories all sample and production inquiries.
- Organise independent QC inspections with O/S manufacturers.
About you:
- Understanding of patternmaking and grading of swimwear, bras/lingerie and clothing for larger busted women.We have 50 cup sizes ranging from 8D through to 16J.
- Previous experience with Lectra, Gerber or Style CAD pattern making, or similar systems.
- Technical drawing skills for tech packs.
- Strong eye for detail and accuracy with a thorough understanding of complex garment constructions.
- Up-to-date knowledge of swimwear and lingerie finishes is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with all stakeholders.
- Previous experience with O/S manufacturers is preferred.
