Your new role

As our new Payroll Advisor, you will act as the first point of contact supporting the effective management of a range of day to day operational people and payroll matters ensuring services provided deliver maximum value to our internal customers and the organisation as a whole.

This role will assist the Payroll Lead in providing a high quality, effective and efficient Payroll Service to all employees which adheres to relevant awards, agreements, statutory and Council requirements.

You will support and provide specialist advice on a broad range of employee, contractor and volunteer matters, including (but not limited to); recruitment and onboarding, payroll, learning and compliance, employee engagement, position management, data and reporting, integrity and accuracy of our HRIS data, EA and award interpretation, remuneration and generalist HR advice.

This is a Full-time Temporary role until 31/07/2025 based at our Civic Centre. We can offer hybrid working arrangements and flexible work options for the right candidate.

This is a Band 6 classified role, remuneration will be $95,488.69 - $104,288.00 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.

What you will need to thrive

The key selection criteria for this role are:

  • Proven ability to interpret and apply Enterprise Agreements and/or other industrial agreements and policies and procedures and provide advice to management and employees.

  • To be self-motivated with the ability to communicate with all staff and other organisations at all levels.

  • Sound planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Sound understanding of accounting practices.

  • Excellent computer literacy skills.

  • A sound knowledge of accounting procedures in relation to payroll.

  • Ability to work in a cross collaborative work environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Demonstrated relevant experience in payroll administration and preparation, preferably using CHRIS21 or Humanforce.

  • A proactive, professional and customer-focused approach with the ability to influence and negotiate effective outcomes with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and effectively contribute to a team environment.
