Position Overview
The Payroll Officer is responsible for:
- Preparing and processing weekly payroll and maintaining payroll records
- Answering payroll enquiries from the workforce
- Interpreting and applying EBA conditions during the preparation of payroll
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant payroll regulations and standards.
- Assisting with workers’ compensation claims and payments
- Assisting with the payment and reconciliation of payroll-related obligations such as insurance, superannuation, and payroll deductions
- Liaising with external entities such as superannuation funds, and workers’ compensation insurers.
- Compiling statistics, budgets, reports, and forecasts as directed, calculating and maintaining records of leave accruals, and preparing and distributing pay slips and pay as you go statements
- Payroll administration duties, such as filing and new starter setup, calculating and processing termination payments.
Your skills and experience will consist of:
- 5+ years of experience in payroll
- Interpretation of EBAs and awards, including the Construction Award
- Experience in accounting and administration in the construction Industry
- A comprehensive understanding of construction industry practices and standards
- Certificate 3 in Accounts Administration or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in using a range of different accounting software
- Strong understanding of financial processes and systems, with an ability to build and improve them
