Permanent Part-time. Preferably 3 days/week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday. But there is flexibility.
We are a well-regarded not-for-profit aged care provider with a very low staff turnover. Ours is a small unique friendly, home-like, stand-alone facility with long-term staff who are devoted to the wellbeing of our Residents.
We are seeking a Personal Care Assistant - Wellbeing to work with mostly low care elderly Residents. Candidates who enjoy working with seniors and elderly people are encouraged to apply.
Reporting to the RN - Direct Care leader.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and running Activities under the guidance of the Wellbeing Co-ordinator at least 2 days/week. Also, for building trust and rapport with each individual Resident, giving emotional support when needed and assistance when required.
The person will need energy, compassion, kindness and patience when working with our Residents, and a recognition that our Residents are our number one priority. They’re our family! They’ll also need energy, initiative, flexibility, and enthusiasm when developing and running Activities. Some artistic talent is also helpful.
Competent computer skills are necessary.
We’re a small team so we need a team player who gets on with everyone and can jump in and help when required.
They must also be prepared to undertake regular short courses to stay up-to-date with Aged Care regulations and industry standards.
Duties include:
- Develop and implement varied and innovative activities for residents.
- Schedule programs on a routine and regular basis.
- Recognise, report, and respond appropriately to changes in the condition of residents, within the skills and competence of the employee and the policies and procedures of the organisation.
- Develop residents care plans and programs of activities for residents in accordance with the Aged Care Quality Standards 1, 2 and 4.
- Undertake training and development activities as required as part of a personal knowledge and skill development program.
- Ensure that in the provision of care the residents’ rights to privacy and dignity are maintained and respected.
- Develop and maintain effective communication skills with individual residents.
- Motivate Residents towards their emotional and physical well-being.
- Adhere to Infection Control and WHS principles.
