Anglo American Steelmaking Coal
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.
Job Description
Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent you will be responsible for the management and coordination of all Process Control Systems activities associated with the mine infrastructure and plant operations. In this crucial role, your accountability will be for ensuring that PCS infrastructure is installed and maintained to appropriate standards, that PCS systems are programmed and maintained to operate safely and efficiently.
You will have a desire to collaborate and innovate, to continuously improve performance and processes to optimize equipment availability and reliability. You will be able to display logical problem-solving and develop and balance short to long term strategies with reliable solutions.
This role will see you accountable for:
- Be responsible for the PCS infrastructure and ensuring that it is installed and maintained to the appropriate standard
- Ensure that PCS systems are programmed and maintained to operate safely and efficiently
- Plan PCS activities to be integrated into new projects or systems to ensure tasks are well planned, adequately resourced and are implemented in a timely manner to the appropriate standard
- Manage PCS works to budgeted time and cost
- Work towards continuous improvement of PCS systems
- Set clear performance expectations, reviewing, and improving the performance of technicians managing PCS systems
- Ensure that clear and concise communications processes take place supporting the management of change to PCS systems
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant qualification
- Experience in a similar role, preferably an underground coal mine
- Knowledge of Citect/SCADA systems
- Knowledge of Cisco networking
- Experience in Allen Bradley PLC systems and Toshiba variable speed drives
- Project Management Experience (desirable)
- Knowledge of RS Logix, Factory Talk (highly regarded)
