About the Role
An exciting opportunity currently exists for you to join the Healthcare for the Homeless Department in a Peer Support Worker capacity for a 6 month period. You will be responsible for supporting people with lived experience of homelessness participate in the research project ‘Improving access to the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department for people experiencing homelessness’.
Hours of work are 3.4 hours (0.09FTE) per week, ideally on a Monday or Tuesday. Duties for the position include:
- Direct engagement with lived experience study participants
- Proactively address barriers impacting on study participants being able to engage in the research
- Attend fortnightly research team meetings and report on progress
- Contribute to the preparation and delivery of reports, publications and presentations
Classifications for this position will range from MP32 - MP35 ($67,522.00 - $71,635.20 per annum, pro-rata for part time).
Your Contribution
- Through the lens of lived experience, provision of meaningful insights about existing barriers that can be proactively addressed to enhance study participants engagement in research activity
- Actively supporting people with lived/living experience of homelessness to participate in meaningful research aimed at improving access to healthcare services
- An understanding of Intentional Peer Support principles in using lived experience when working with study participants
- Previous experience working as a Peer Support Worker
- Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About Healthcare for the Homeless Department
The Healthcare for the Homeless (HFH) department was established in December 2021 and is currently located at St Vincent’s Hospital, Fitzroy site. The intent of the HFH department is to integrate healthcare management for people experiencing homelessness so that they achieve improved health outcomes and a better quality of life.
The HFH department is active in healthcare research and undertakes research projects aimed at improving healthcare outcomes for people experiencing homelessness. Undertaking impactful research that is co-designed and translatable are key focusses for the department.
