Piacentini & Son, earthmoving and mining contractor specialising in bulk earthworks, heavy haulage transportation & rehabilitation services, are seeking a People and Culture Officer to be based at their Picton office working full-time Monday to Friday, for a Fixed Term contract of 18 months.
The purpose of the People & Culture Officer is to provide a broad range of responsive and effective transactional services to the People and Culture team, with a focus on supporting the delivery of the full range of recruitment and employment related matters, to foster inclusivity and a positive culture. The position works in close collaboration with the Recruitment, Payroll and Learning and Development teams.
Responsibilities
- Support the People and Culture team in the delivery of the full life cycle of employee services to employees and managers
- Preparing routine and non-routine documentation and correspondence relating to a range of People and &Culture matters
- Respond to fundamental employment queries through email and telephone and provide relevant information, explanation and advice to employees, escalating matters to Line Manager(s) where necessary
- Provide Human Resources Information System (HRIS) support and processing for various HR functions such as Payroll, Recruitment, Benefits, Employee Relations and other relevant stakeholders
- Provide general HRIS guidance and assistance to users across the organisation as required
- Maintain data on the HRIS across all areas of accountability including assistance with updating and maintaining forms, policies and procedures and creating process guides as required
- Maintain and update accurate employee documentation and records, payroll related information, and contracts within deadlines
- Coordinate the delivery of a regular corporate induction program including event management and support
- Support the performance review process, including preparation of surveys and supporting documentation
- Process changes to employment status and employment related compliance checks
- Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and policy requirements across all areas of accountability
- Provide administrative support to the People and Culture team in the delivery of People and Culture Services in the areas of policy and procedure development, employee relations, work health and safety, workforce strategy, organisational design, talent management, and organisational culture
Essential Criteria
- Certificate IV in Human Resources or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in a high-volume administrative support role
- Relevant industry experience with demonstrated knowledge of human resources and employee lifecycle processes
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of People and provide relevant and accurate information to stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to identify and prioritise issues, problem solve, generate solutions and work collaboratively to achieve a successful outcome
- Enthusiasm for learning and willingness to contribute to the improvement of P&C services and operations including workflows, processes, and systems
- Ability to demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, judgement, initiative, and sensitivity in the performance of duties and dealings with employees
Desirable Criteria
- Degree in human resource management, or business or commerce with a major in human resource management
