Part of a major Japanese Chemical Group, our client is renowned for their success, innovation, positive work culture and an environmentally conscious approach to both agribusiness and manufacturing.Spanning operations in Tasmania and the rural regions of Western Victoria, our client has pioneered the cultivation of the pyrethrum daisy since its establishment in 1996. Managing thousands of hectares dedicated to producing top-quality products, the organisation is currently on the lookout for a Seed Technical Officer to join their dynamic team in Ulverstone, TAS.Your Role
As the Seed Technical Officer, you'll play a vital role under the direct supervision of the Seed Research Officer, supporting both the Seed and R&D teams across field, glasshouse, and laboratory trials. From the inception of planting to the culmination of harvest, you'll be deeply involved in every technical aspect, ensuring the smooth execution of research trials. Your responsibilities will extend to meticulous data management, adhering to best management practices, and maintaining accurate records throughout the process.What sets our client apart in the realm of R&D companies is their unique agility – successful research can swiftly translate into implementation, often within the same year. Whilst the bulk of their research focuses on seed-related endeavours, this role offers exposure to various other areas of the business.Employing a practical and hands-on approach, you will adeptly communicate issues to the manager, fostering a clear and effective dialogue.Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Crop monitoring and plant counts
- Apply trial treatments, including agricultural chemicals
- Maintain trial sites including hand weeding and spot spraying
- Collect data from field and glasshouse trials as directed
- Assist with trial establishment

Your reliability and adaptability will be key, as you'll continuously hone your technical skills and demonstrate innovation and flexibility in problem-solving scenarios.To be considered for the role, it is important that you can meet the following criteria:
- Experience in agriculture, horticulture, or as a Technical Officer
- Proficiency in conducting field work
- Ability to analyse agronomic production data effectively
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Strong team player with a collaborative mindset
- Keen attention to detail
- Driver’s licence
