Tasmanian Oyster Co (TOC for short) is committed to being the leader in sustainable oyster production, striving for best practice and continuous improvement in the management of the environment in which we operate.

Our People & Safety team is growing! After one person in our team scored an internal promotion and is moving to our Operations team, we've taken the opportunity to restructure and create this new role of People & Culture Advisor.

The role

This role will support the successful, safe, and compliant operations of all TOC sites (across Tasmania, South Australia and New South Wales). This role provides HR advice, manages people issues, and supports the implementation and delivery of TOC’s People & Safety plan. Key responsibilities include recruitment, managing cyclical people activities, coaching leaders, resolving conflicts/grievances, and handling employee life cycle administration.

Specifically, you will:

  • Manage end to end recruitment.
  • Manage cyclical people activities like probation reviews and performance reviews.
  • Engage with teams across al TOC sites.
  • Coach leaders and support them to manage their teams in a way that is aligned to TOC values.
  • Manage people-related issues such as performance management, disciplinary processes, investigations, grievance resolution and organisational change, with the necessary support.
  • Handle employee life cycle administration.
  • Identify, implement, or support initiatives, and support other members of the People & Safety team with their initiatives.
  • Coordinate TOC's high potential program.

The role is part-time. We're looking at between 32 and 24 hours per week, negotiable for the right candidate.

Our office is currently based in Clifton Beach.

About you

  • Experience in a generalist HR role, with knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • HR qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
  • Values-driven with a respectful and open mindset, championing TOC values.
  • Collaborative approach with a desire to support others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to different audiences, and capable of building credibility across hatcheries, farms, and administrative teams.
  • Complete confidentiality with sensitive data and information.
  • Self-motivated with the drive to deliver timely and reliable service.
  • Excellent organizational skills, efficient, and able to manage multiple demands.
  • Technical competence in MS Office and capability to work across various software packages (safety software, HR software, financial software).
  • Willingness to travel to sites (intra- and inter-state).
