Habitat Creations is a family-owned company specialising in large-scale urban landscaping, natural environment remediation and revegetation, and native plant supply via our Wholesale Nursery. Our field teams operate across South Eastern Australia, servicing a variety of clients including Private Landholders, State and Local Government Departments, Water Authorities, Catchment Management Authorities, Landscape Architects, and the Civil Construction and Residential Development industry.

Role Overview
The People and Culture Officer is responsible for managing and coordinating the General HR, Performance and Culture activities across all areas of the Habitat Creations business. Reporting to the General Manager, and working closely with the Division Managers, you’ll offer advice, strategy and support to ensure compliance with relevant employment law, the recruitment and retention of high-quality candidates, and the proactive management of training and certification requirements.
Main Duties
• End-to-end recruitment including job advertising, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks and the execution of employment contracts.
• Onboarding and assisting Division Managers with Inductions
• Termination and Offboarding
• Performance Management (with support from the General Manager)
• Employee Records Management (Employment Hero)
• HR Systems Administration (Employment Hero)
• Managing Staff Training and Certification Requirements (Employment Hero)
• Monthly Reporting
• Engaging with Division Managers on people issues
• Provide general advice to the management team about HR matters
• Preparing and updating HR & employment related documentation including contracts, position descriptions, induction and employee handbook etc.
• Assist with periodical Performance Reviews, and in the development of performance management plans where required
• Managing external relationships with Tertiary Education Institutions and Recruitment Agencies
• Managing Culture Activities, including quarterly Culture Awards
• Managing the Incentive Program
Other Duties (as required)
• Assisting with the coordination of our Community, Partnerships and Employment events
• Assisting with the development of content for the Staff Newsletter
• Other duties as required

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
• Minimum 2 years working experience in a HR and/or a recruitment role
• Computer skills including Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel
• Knowledge of employment legislation and regulations
• Demonstrated experience preparing employment contracts
• A basic understanding of the Australian requirements for employers around visas
• Experience with conflict resolution, disciplinary procedures and having difficult conversations
Desirable
• A relevant Human Resources qualification is highly desirable
• Previous experience coordinating end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes
• Prior experience with Employment Hero
