Kmart Australia’s Merchandise and Supply Chain technology group is responsible for bringing products that delight our customers from across the globe into our stores throughout Australia and New Zealand. A team of more than 200 technology professionals, they are responsible for building, managing, supporting, and improving some of the most sophisticated Merchandise, Inventory, Product Sourcing and Supply Chain retail technology in Australia, New Zealand and globally.
In this key position, you will be entrusted with accountability for the entire portfolio’s project delivery capability, ensuring their seamless execution. Your responsibilities will extend to overseeing delivery planning and status reporting, providing valuable insights to guide strategic decision-making at the executive level. With a focus on value realisation, you will lead the management of Risks, Issues, Assumptions, and Dependencies, ensuring a proactive approach to addressing challenges that may arise.
Additionally, your role involves identifying and rectifying issues with critical initiatives through coaching or direct involvement. You will enhance the delivery practice by upskilling and coaching individuals in delivery roles. A crucial aspect of this position is to drive continuous improvement in delivery processes and metrics, contributing to the overall success and growth of Kmart Australia's technological endeavours.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing Program and Agile Delivery oversight across the entire portfolio. Leveraging your proficiency in program management and Agile delivery and your own hands-on experience in delivering complex programs of work.
- Coaching, mentoring people in Delivery focused roles, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Developing a profound understanding of the business, utilizing this knowledge to prioritize focus areas for delivery teams and providing invaluable insights to executive leaders.
- Playing a key role in building a high performance, highly engaged culture
- Rigorously focusing on delivering high-quality output, contributing to the overall excellence of the delivery process.
- Cultivating a strong rapport with Heads of Engineering and Delivery, Delivery Managers, and Chief Product Owners, fostering a collaborative and supportive network within the organisation.
- Challenging the status quo, using data and insights.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- Excellent critical thinking, time management and prioritisation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to both executive and technical audiences. Relationship building is fundamental to success.
- Proven experience personally leading the delivery of large, complex initiatives and programs of work, demonstrating the ability to navigate challenges and drive successful outcomes.
- A track record of working at scale on initiatives with large technology components, showcasing a deep understanding of the intricacies of technology-driven projects.
- Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement, fostering a culture of innovation and optimisation.
- Deep understanding of program metrics and reporting tailored for a senior executive audience, showcasing your ability to provide insightful and strategic information.
- Extensive planning and estimation experience, showcasing your ability to accurately forecast and allocate resources for successful project delivery.
- Previous experience in the management and/or coaching of delivery roles, such as Iteration Managers, Delivery Managers, Scrum Masters, and Project Managers.
- While not mandatory, previous experience in the retail sector is beneficial, as it can provide additional context and understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within this industry.
- Understanding the Software Lifecycle and demonstrating a keen appreciation for how software is built and delivered, coupled with an understanding of how technical solutions are defined, ensuring a holistic grasp of the technology landscape.

- The ability to absorb business strategy and translate the implications to maximise delivery outcomes.
