Bagdad Education and Care – a Nature Play Centre, is an Award-Winning 36 place Long Day Care Centre located 30 mins north of Hobart. We are a passionate, family operated, fully resourced service that genuinely values and supports our educators, their work life balance and aspirations.
We are situated near nature reserves and walking distance to playgrounds, a golf course and oval which offer many opportunities to enrich the program.
As the State winner of the Little Scientists Early STEM Award for 2018, 2020 and 2022, we have a strong focus on inquiry led, nature and play-based educational programs in our modern, purpose-built setting and a philosophy inspired by Reggio Emilia, Steiner, Nature Pedagogy Approaches and Loose Parts Play Theory.

A rare ROOM LEADERSHIP position exists within our growing, professional educator team for an experienced educator in our new infant/ toddler (kutalayna/ Jordan River) room.
The successful candidate must:
- Have children’s wellbeing and rights at the core of every interaction, viewing them as capable and competent individuals.
- Be a fun, passionate, energetic professional and reliable team member with strong communication and literacy skills.
- Demonstrate leadership, maturity, initiative, and an ability to build and maintain respectful relationships with children, their families and colleagues.
- Be a critical thinker with a growth mindset and able to partake in respectful, reflective collaborative conversations to look at innovative ways to improve the quality of the educational program and our practice.
- Embrace the outdoors through nature play and support children to explore and respect their environment through regular nature-based excursions using the service’s commuter bus and nature walks that foster links to community (including school visits), culture and sustainability.
- Have experience offering child led, play based educational programs to a broad range of age groups and able to assess and document learning (computer and tablet literate) and look for learning opportunities to scaffold and extend and then evaluate as part of the programming cycle.
- Be flexible to work 4-5 days a week (negotiable), between 6.45am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
- Hold a Diploma in Children's Services (or working towards completion.) Traineeships may be available to the right person.
- Hold a current WWVP card, police check and first aid (including emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis) certificate.
- Have a competent knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Framework including the Standards and National Regulations.
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work within an established team.
