We are looking for a people-focused individual to join our team in our split role of Personal Care Assistant / Domestic Assistant on a Casual basis, based at our boutique retirement village situated alongside the tranquil Hobart Rivulet, just 5 minutes from Hobart’s CBD. This role will undertake shifts in both residential cleaning, and in Personal Care.

About the role
Vaucluse Gardens is staffed and provides support to our residents from 7am to 9pm, 7 days a week, and this role is a split role in undertaking shifts both as Personal Care Assistant, and as Domestic Assistant providing a high level of residential cleaning. Resident unit cleaning is traditionally a one-hour service, with staff asked to clean a minimum of 2 Resident units, and a maximum of 5 units per shift.
Activities will include but are not limited to:
- Undertaking a high standard of cleaning in common areas, resident units and external clients’ residences
- Providing in home Personal Care, daily living assistance including showering, personal hygiene, meal preparation, house cleaning, laundry & ironing
- Providing care in accordance with their individualised Care Plan
- Supporting with community based recreational and social activities
- Transportation and assistance with shopping and appointments
- Communicating with Village Manager and Case Manager regarding any concerns or deterioration of a resident, including reporting of incidents
About you
To provide the best possible experience to our residents, we’re seeking candidates who are reliable and caring, with a courteous, pleasant and positive attitude.
Successful candidates will also have:
- Certificate lll in Aged Care or Individual Support
- At least 6 months of experience working as a Personal Care Worker
- Previous experience in commercial and/or domestic cleaning at a high standard
- Experience working with older people who have chronic health conditions, including dementia
- Ability to work both unsupervised and as part of a team
- Flexible and positive attitude to evolving work environments and switching roles to suit resident needs, and ad hoc shift requirements
- Good people skills and empathy for older people living in care and retirement village setting
- Flexibility with working hours
- Physical fitness, as the position can be physically demanding with assisting residents to move around their homes and undertaking cleaning
- Evidence of right to work in Australia
