Position Title: In-Home Aged Care and Disability Support Worker
Job Description:
As an In-Home Aged Care and Disability Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing essential care and support to individuals within their homes who require assistance due to aging or disability. Your role will involve offering physical, emotional, and social support to enhance the quality of life and independence of those under your care.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care Assistance:
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Provide support with mobility, transferring, and positioning as required.
- Administer medication as per individual care plans and guidelines.
Health Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor clients' health conditions and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals or supervisors.
- Keep accurate records of observations, care provided, and any incidents that occur during your shift.
Emotional and Social Support:
- Engage clients in meaningful conversations and activities to promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
- Offer companionship and emotional support, fostering a trusting and respectful relationship with clients.
Household Assistance:
- Assist with light household chores such as meal preparation, grocery shopping, laundry, and light cleaning.
- Ensure a safe and hygienic environment for the client, identifying and addressing any hazards or risks.
Respect for Dignity and Independence:
- Uphold the dignity, privacy, and independence of clients at all times, promoting autonomy and self-determination.
- Foster a culture of respect, empathy, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions with clients and their families.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Maintain open and effective communication with clients, their families, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, support coordinators, and community services to ensure holistic care and support for clients.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Disability Care, Individual Support, or a related field.
- Previous experience in aged care, disability support, or a similar role is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic attitude towards clients and their unique needs.
- Reliable and trustworthy, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to follow care plans, protocols, and procedures effectively.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and client needs.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification .
Working Conditions:
- This position involves working flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate the needs of clients.
- Travel to clients' homes within the designated service area may be required.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods are necessary for this role.
- This Role will report to the Care Manager Right At Home Macarthur Penrith.
- This position is on casual basis but has potential to be changed to FTE .
