Police HomeCare Services employ qualified and experienced home support workers, who work in accordance with Police HomeCare Services philosophy and policies, assist older people living independently at home, in the community with activities relating to Personal Care, household management. This position works under the direction and supervision of the Care Coordinator.
Due to growth, we are currently looking for a number of home support workers who have a commitment to help and support people. Reliability, a positive attitude, creativity, flexibility, and diligence are all very important aspects of your work. You will also need a current unrestricted Drivers Licence and a reliable vehicle.
Key responsibilities and duties:
To assist Care recipient with a range of activities including:
- Activities relating to personal hygiene, assisting to shower or bathe, grooming and toileting
- General domestic help, house cleaning and home environment maintenance tasks
- Meal preparation to help with food preparation and simple cooking
- Shopping or assisting with shopping
- Accompanying on outings, social support
- Respecting the values, customs, preferences and spiritual beliefs of clients.
- To carry out activities as specified in care recipient’s care plan and service agreements, with some level of flexibility to meet the expressed wishes of the clients, within a delegated level of responsibilities.
To ensure the appropriate level of care and support to clients by:
- Be aware of the recipient’s current conditions and care needs
- Encourage and support to maximize recipient’s independence
- Advising the Care Coordinator of any changes in the client’s conditions or needs
- Maintaining skills through internal training and or external education as directed by the Manager
To assist with evaluating the recipient’s progress and care outcomes by:
- Participating and making contribution in the client’s care plan implementation and review
- Escalating concerns on the recipient’s health and well-being related issues
- Conducting accurate and concise documentation and report
Our Requirements
- Certificate III or IV in Aged Care or Individual Support is essential
- Current and relevant DHS or NDIS worker screening certificate/s is essential
- Completed medication competence training is desirable
- Current/willing to obtain manual handling certificate
- Current/willing to obtain First Aid certificate
- Current/willing to obtain CPR certificate
- Experience in supporting older people living in their own homes
- Nursing students who have completed acute care placement are encouraged to apply
- Relevant working experience in aged care facilities, home care and disability care
