Job description

We are seeking Personal Carers to deliver outstanding care to our residents at our Star of the Sea Elders Village.

Personal Carer | Pinangba | Star of the Sea Elders Village I Thursday Island

  • Employment Term: Permanent full-time or part-time
  • Location: Star of the Sea Aged Care Facility, Thursday Island 
  • Remuneration:  Competitive hourly rate based on qualifications and experience, or; $31.62+ 11 % Super + Salary Packaging of up to $15,900  (increases your take home pay) + Penalties & Allowances 
  • Sign on and retention bonuses of up to $29,500 over 24 months 
  • Additional Benefits: Highly attractive rental assistance and relocation allowance package of up to $12,500 on offer for candidates who need to relocate to Thursday Island ($5,000 relocation and $2,500 per month rental assistance for 3 months)

Services for Star of the Sea Elders Village are delivered by Pinangba, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led arm of UnitingCare. The foundations of Pinangba are built from our cultural identity and strong community relationships and partnerships. 

We deliver culturally informed services through innovative service delivery to progress Self-Determination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through unique and holistic care; prioritising social justice to nurture physical, mental and spiritual healing.

Your part in our Pinangba team

You’ll provide care to clients living in our residential home, supporting their independence and improving their quality of life through activities that include: 

  • Daily living assistance including showering, personal hygiene, help at meal times and general mobility
  • Providing care in accordance with their individualised Care Plan
  • Supporting with community based recreational and social activities
  • Transportation and assistance with shopping and appointments

What you’ll need: 

  • Certificate III Aged Care, Home and Community Care, Disability Support, or an equivalent qualification 
  • Experience with technology incl. smartphones, tablets, laptops etc
  • Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies
  • NDIS Workers Screening Clearance or willingness to obtain
