About the Role
Based in our Osborne Park head office in Perth reporting to the Editor, PerthNow newspapers, this role is ideal for a reporter looking to delve into grassroots news, with a particular focus on courts, crime and council.
The ideal candidate will have a journalism degree or similar, and an understanding of and keen interest in local news. Previous reporting and newspaper production experience will be highly regarded. They will also have some technological savvy and thrive in a team environment.
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Gathering and writing original news stories for publication in print and online platforms;
- Developing positive relationships with key people and organisations;
- Breaking news stories and create engaging content;
- Interviewing subjects confidently and professionally; and
- Representing the Company in a professional and courteous manner.
About You
To be successful in this position, you will possess:
- Previous experience working in production (highly regarded)
- The ability to work under pressure
- Strong interviewing and communication skills
- A sense of urgency and focus on deadlines
- A valid driver’s license
- A passion for local news
