Job description

  • Permanent role part- time or full-time opportunity
  • West Perth location
  • Work with a talented, collaborative team of professionals

Based out of the West Perth laboratory you will be working closely with our Laboratory Manager, working both collaboratively and autonomously within our growing team.

THE ROLE

  • Execute petrographic and chemical testing of concrete, rocks, minerals, aggregate, sand, mortars and other material to relevant standards and prepare reports
  • Operating within the relevant sections of the laboratory quality management system to ensure compliance with ISO 17025
  • Liaise with clients and internal team members regarding testing scopes and projects
  • Equipment calibration/checks in-line with the equipment calibration/check schedule
  • Collection of samples including concrete cores, concrete dusts, mortars, etc. or other site work when required
  • Conduct or willingness to be trained on Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis

ABOUT YOU

  • Prior experience in a similar role highly desirable
  • Tertiary Qualification in relevant discipline (i.e. Bachelor of Science in an Earth Science field)
  • Previous experience with a petrographic microscope (classroom or industry)
  • Identify rocks and minerals in thin section
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Professional experience as a petrographer analysing concrete and other building materials desired
