About the role
In this role, you'll report to the Business Development Manager and be part of a compassionate pet cremation service supporting pet owners throughout our service area. You'll be responsible for cremating and transporting deceased animals, providing a unique, door-to-door experience for RSPCA Pets at Rest clients. - Safely transport deceased animals between customers' homes, veterinary clinics and the RSPCA site.
- Communicate with pet owners with compassion, providing guidance on the cremation process.
- Operate cremation equipment, following safety protocols, and assist with cremating animals, ensuring accurate processing and packaging of remains.
- Keep detailed records, including owner information and cremation preferences.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant cremation environment.
- Return cremated remains to the owner or vet hospital, offering additional support resources for grieving pet owners if needed.
Who are we looking for?
- Open licence with an excellent driving record is essential.
- Capability to lift and move animals or heavy equipment as the role will require physical labour.
- Experience with cremation equipment and safety protocols.
- Ability to show empathy to grieving pet owners and explain services clearly.
- Strong ability to manage records and process cremated remains with accuracy.
- Works effectively with other team members and follow organisational policies and procedures.
- Calm under pressure and able to find solutions in stressful situations.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment, with a professional appearance.
- Reliable, punctual, and proactive, with a genuine interest in animal welfare.
- Understanding of local animal cremation regulations and industry standards.
This is a part-time, permanent position, working either 20 or 30 hours per week, including regular weekend shifts.
