About the role
This position is a member of the Eastern Health pharmacy team. This position provides support to Clinical Trials Pharmacists in the provision of pharmacy Investigational Drug Service across Eastern Health. Rotation to pharmacy service areas outside of Clinical Trials and rotation to other EH sites may be required.
The major duties of the position include:
- coordinating, collaborating and providing support of clinical trial pharmacy service,
- providing accurate and timely dispensing of trial and trial related medications,
- performing administrative responsibilities,
- supporting the Aseptic/Cytotoxic compounding,
- managing clinical trial investigational product inventory,
- accurate record keeping in relation to Clinical Trials and study protocols,
- training and delegation as required by study protocols and sponsors,
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Minimum of three years’ full time experience as a qualified Pharmacy Technician is highly desirable
- hold a Certificate IV in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician) course or equivalent that has been awarded by a registered training organization or as approved by the Pharmacy Board of Victoria (e.g. Peter McCallum chemotherapy preparation course is highly desirable
- Experience in Clinical Trial and aseptic and/or hazardous medication compounding experience or ability to train to work in compounding are highly desirable
- Demonstrated meticulous attention to details
- Demonstrated general clerical skills including proficiency with computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Ability to escalate appropriately
- Able to assist in the supervision, training/mentoring of other Pharmacy Technicians
- Demonstrated understanding of customer service of internal and external customers and be committed to effectively meet their needs in a helpful and professional manner
- Skills of timely and effective communication within healthcare personnel and colleagues to guide and achieve best practice.
