We have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our GEM (slow-stream rehabilitation) team in a Grade 2 Physiotherapy position.

Come and join our subacute physiotherapy team at Western Health where you will use your rehabilitation, aged care, and discharge planning skills to deliver best care to a variety of aged and complex client cohorts. The patient presentations in the GEM unit include post-fracture care for neck of femur and surgical neck of humorous fractures; rehabilitation following a non-weight bearing period; and patients recovering from functional decline, acute illness and delirium. This position gives you the opportunity to work with Australia’s first Non-Weight Bear Coordinator, an Advanced Practice Physiotherapy role, to optimise care for this patient group.
Our GEM and Transition Care multi-disciplinary teams provide person-centred, holistic, and collaborative care, to keep the patient and their family at the centre of goal setting and discharge planning. Working in this team you will use your problem solving and critical thinking alongside your compassion and respect to develop creative discharge plans for complex situations.
Learning and development are integral to the culture of our department and we will support you to build you clinical, supervision and leadership skills. We will encourage you to participate in our Research and Quality program and contribute to our stream portfolios and department committees. Physiotherapists at Western Health are also encouraged in career development and planning through the Allied Health workforce development program.
You will be well supported by experienced Grade 3 Aged and Complex Care Physiotherapists dedicated to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement. Through this you will build your rehabilitation skills for low functioning patients, stroke patients, and post orthopaedic surgery. This position is part of our Grade 2 Aged and Complex Care rotation program giving you scope to build your breadth of skills across the continuum of care.

- Have well developed clinical skills for working with aged and complex care patient cohorts in the hospital setting
- Have an interest in supervision and training physiotherapy staff and students

- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Work collaboratively with the Physiotherapy and Multidisciplinary teams
