Melbourne Piano School is currently seeking experienced Piano Teachers to join our team. We currently have an opening at our studio in Hawthorn, as well as positions for teachers to work from their own home studio, or travel to student homes to offer private piano lessons.
We have high demand for piano lessons in all Melbourne inner suburbs, and are especially needing teachers for the following areas:
- Working at our Hawthorn studio on Saturdays
- Inner North - working at your home studio or travelling to student homes around Northcote, Clifton Hill, Fitzroy, Collingwood, Thornbury, Preston, or Coburg
- Western suburbs - working from your home studio or travelling to student homes around Maribyrnong, Ascot Vale, Footscray, Yarraville, Keilor or surrounding suburbs
- Southeast suburbs - working at your home studio or travelling to student homes around Brighton, Elwood, Caulfield, Bentleigh, and surrounding suburbs
- Eastern suburbs - working at your home studio or travelling to student homes around Camberwell, Glen Iris, Balwyn, Kew and surrounding suburbs.
- Mornington Peninsula
- Woodend / Macedon

At Melbourne Piano School you have the opportunity to share your passion for music education in a supportive, independent, and flexible work arrangement. Our teachers are offered a high degree of independence to teach students according to their own style and methods. WHAT WE OFFER
Renumeration of $50 per hour, (inclusive of superannuation) paid based on lessons taught at your home studio and/or $55 per hour (inclusive of superannuation) for lessons taught at a student's home. You choose whether you prefer to work at your studio or at student homes. For the position at our Hawthorn studio renumeration is $45 per hour inclusive of superannuation.
Flexibility to choose your own teaching methods and educational resources
Flexibility to choose your own working hours and the number of students you take on (you must be willing to teach a minimum of 5 weekly students)
Administrative and ongoing professional support
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Achieved Grade 7 AMEB piano (or equivalent), or currently studying piano at university
Minimum of 1 year piano teaching experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Passion for piano and music education
Current Working with Children check
Australian citizen or permanent resident, or student visa with at least 2 years before expiry
ABOUT OUR STUDENTS
Melbourne Piano School students are of all ages and all backgrounds. Our client base is approximately 50% adults and 50% children. The majority of students are at the beginner or intermediate levels, while a smaller portion are advanced students.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP
You would be providing services to Melbourne Piano School as an independent contractor. Regular communication with our admin team is required. Support and supervision is available as needed.
TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and deliver high quality music lessons to your students
Keep accurate records of lessons taught, cancelled, or rescheduled via our online booking system
Maintain student progress notes
Maintain warm and positive client relationships
Serve as a contact point in cases where students need to reschedule or cancel a lesson which has already been booked by the MPS admin team, and for any casual bookings with your students
Familiarise yourself with MPS policies and remind students of the studio policy when needed
Respond to correspondence from the MPS admin team within 1 business day
