PIPER Neonatal Retrieval Nurse Practitioner

A Full-time position is available with the Paediatric Infant and Perinatal Emergency Retrieval service commencing August 2024.
This position is suitable for an experienced NNP with a minimum of 2 years experience as an endorsed NNP in a tertiary Australian Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or equivalent.
Classification for this position will range from Nurse Practitioner (Endorsed) NO1-NO2
What you'll achieve:
- Provide comprehensive diagnostic assessment and advanced clinical skills during neonatal and infant retrieval.
- Ensuring the receiving unit medical and nursing staff have appropriate handover of the clinical status of the patient and the expected arrival time.
- Development and implementation of research, audit, and quality improvement projects with a particular emphasis on supporting Retrieval Nurses in these areas.
- Demonstrates high level of clinical proficiency in carrying out a range of procedures, treatments and interventions that are evidence based and informed by specialist knowledge.
- Endorsed Nurse Practitioner with AHPRA
- At least 2 years' experience post candidacy as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in a neonatal tertiary setting
- Evidence of competence in the advanced clinical procedures related to the care of neonatal patients on retrievals
- Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
- Valid Working with Children Check, or willing to obtain
- Mandatory immunisations history including Covid-19 & Influenza Vaccinations, as subject to the Department of Health directive
About the Department
PIPER Neonatal undertakes 1600 emergency Neonatal Retrievals per year, by road or air. Training in neonatal and infant emergency transport and neonatology is provided and research is supported and encouraged.
PIPER Neonatal is collocated with the PIPER paediatric retrieval service and the perinatal emergency referral service within the new Royal Children's Hospital (RCH). Excellent relationships between PIPER and Royal Women's, the RCH, Monash Children's, Mercy Hospital for Women and Western hospital allows Retrieval Clinicians access to the extensive academic and clinical resources of these hospitals.
