Job description

Any registered psychologist with an area of practice endorsement in Clinical Psychology will remember the importance of their professional and personal experiences on placement, and the role Placement Coordinators and supervisors had in supporting them. That's why, at ISN Psychology, we are seeking Placement Coordinators who understand this transformative role and its power to contribute to students' learning in our Clinical Psychology courses.

About the role

We are seeking Placement Coordinators in Clinical Psychology who share our vision to:

- Provide an inclusive placement experience in order to produce Clinical Psychology graduates with diverse life experiences.
- Partner with placement host organisations, particularly those with projected psychology workforce needs, who share our vision for the future of the profession.

We are particularly seeking candidates with excellent professional networks in Sydney and NSW (however, applicants from other locations will be considered) as well as those who have national networks to establish relationships with organisations that wish to support students studying outside our Victorian base. An important point of difference relevant to this role is the additional advanced placement opportunities offered by ISN Clinic, providing an internal partnership addressing areas of community need tailored to the developmental needs of our students.

Primary Duties:

- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with placement host organisations sharing common values that both provide placement opportunities and advance the capacity-building needs of those organisations.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to students during their placements, addressing any challenges or issues, including as part of mid- and end-placement review processes and remediation plans.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to supervisors and host placement organisations in relation to their work with our students, addressing challenges and issues in an ethical, timely, and sensitive manner.
- Along with other practicum and placement-related staff members, comply with and ensure the appropriateness of relevant policies and procedures, and the associated operational processes, that underpin these aspects of the courses.
- Act as unit coordinator for placement units contributing to our courses required to comply with the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) Level 4 Clinical Psychology competencies.
- Along with course coordinators and the wider academic team, contribute to the design and improvement of relevant units and courses to ensure our compliance with APAC standards and future-proof our graduates by anticipating industry changes.

About you

You'll share our passion for diversifying and growing the Australian psychology workforce by delivering transformative learning opportunities. You will be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist, have Psychology Board of Australia area of practice endorsement in Clinical Psychology, and hold Board Approved Supervisor status.

Essential:

- Strong networking and relationship-building skills, especially within the Clinical Psychology sector in NSW.
- Excellent understanding of the Australian psychology profession and capacity to identify future workforce trends and needs to inform our courses and host placement organisation partnership strategy.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment, particularly requiring high levels of attention to detail, interpersonal, problem-solving and organisational skills, as well as the capacity to be patient, flexible, and adaptable within a highly regulated context.

Desirable:

- Demonstrated experience in coordinating or supervising clinical placements in an educational setting.
- Experience in the management of psychology or health-related services.

Please note, this will be a clinical academic (teaching intensive) appointment, so if you have not previously held an academic position, this will not be a barrier to your success.

Benefits:

- Hybrid working arrangements and flexible part- or full-time opportunities.
- Access to diverse career development opportunities within the ISN group.
