The purpose of the Planning and Approvals Advisor role is to advise, guide and support BCE school communities through the coordination of Archdiocesan approvals and capital funding processes. You will play a pivotal role in facilitating the approval pathway for education projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maximising opportunities for capital funding. You will collaborate closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external, to navigate the complex landscape of approvals and master planning. Your expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality educational facilities that meet the needs of across our 147 school communities.
About the role:
  • Consultation with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including BCE school principals, Senior Leaders – School Progress and Performance, parish priests, parents, building officers, directors, external providers including architects, members of other church agencies, and officers of local, state and commonwealth government departments.
  • Support the Planning & Facilities team in the preparation of school master plan designs and Approvals.
  • Development, delivery, implementation and coordination of regulatory approval pathway, to support the pipeline of education projects for our existing and future assets.
  • Provide of technical oversight and coordination of specific projects, and high-level support in the management of Archdiocesan responsibilities in relation to capital funding programs and town planning approvals.
About you: To be successful in this role you will demonstrate
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or post graduate qualifications in Town Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering or Quantity Surveying, or a related field with experience
  • Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of regulatory approval processes and capital funding programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of town planning regulations, building codes, and education sector requirements.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and consensus-building processes.
