The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Planning officer to join the Network Operations team at Transgrid.
You will be responsible for supporting the operation of Transgrid's High Voltage network by facilitating safe access for work on High Voltage apparatus. This is achieved through application of outage planning processes, tools and operational documentation.
The position reports to the Operations Planning Manager. The qualities, that the incumbent is required to demonstrate, include:
- Review outage plans and contribute to scheduling, sequencing or co-ordination to minimise impacts to the High Voltage Network
- A good understanding of the outage requirements and potential outage impacts on both internal and external customers.
- High proficiency in adopting a thorough systematic approach using computer-based tools, operational processes, understanding of safety systems and knowledge of high voltage equipment to deliver timely response to access requests.
About you
- Advanced Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Broad knowledge and experience of the function and operating characteristics of high-voltage transmission equipment and the associated control, protection and communication systems and auxiliary supply systems.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of maintenance and construction work and a thorough understanding of high voltage, low voltage and mechanical systems in the network.
- An understanding of outage implications on market participants and TransGrid's obligations.
- Knowledge in relation to the application of Safe Systems of Work and how these can be applied in order to allow safe and efficient access to the High Voltage system to perform work.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use Windows-based computer applications.
