Requirements 
Role Description 
The Platform Product Manager (PPM)for MPET will manage and develop products or services through their full life cycle from inception, growth, maturity, decline to retirement. The PPM will also oversee the organisation’s product and services portfolio and the delivery of customer value and/or user satisfaction over time. The PPM will also create the product life cycle management framework for internal and external customers and users and champion the importance and value of product management principles and appropriate product development models. The PPM will align the product management objectives with business objectives and authorise the selection and planning of all product management activities. The PPM will initiate the creation of new products and services and identify how developing new products or adapting existing products can lead to new opportunities. 

Roles and responsibilities 
We are seeking an experienced MuleSoft Platform Product Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully delivering enterprise scale Integration/API Platforms from conception to launch and mass adoption. The roles and responsibilities for the PPM include, but are not limited to the following: 

1. Primary responsibility of defining, implementing and governing an API First strategy for the Division in a pragmatic way given existing application architectures. 
2. Defines the vision, strategy and roadmap for the MuleSoft Platform 
3. As a self-managing and proactive MuleSoft Platform Product Manager you are responsible for engaging customers to define desirable, viable, feasible, and sustainable solutions that meet customer needs and support the development of these across the full product life cycle.  
4. Accountable for defining and manages MuleSoft Platform Epics and Features in Azure DevOps (ADO) through the Platforms Feature funnel/Kanban delivery board, ensuring they meet the Definition of Accepted, Definition of Ready and Definition of Done. 
5. Coordinates cross-branch initiatives to ensure the MuleSoft Platform capabilities align with the broader Aged Care Transformation Program goals. 
6. Evaluates the completeness of MuleSoft Platform Features implemented through the ART backlog and accepts them if considered complete. 
7. Supports the ongoing development and maintenance of the MuleSoft Platform Architectural Runway required to support the Platform backlog. 
8. Responsible for guiding and supporting 2 Product Owners within the following 2 scrum teams, providing them with accurate business context and receiving feedback on the feasibility of Feature implementation: 
9. MuleSoft Platform scrum team 
10. Business to Government (B2G) scrum team 
11. Advocate for and implementation of best practices in API management and governance. 
12. Drives the adoption of new Features through comprehensive change management and training programs. 
13. Ensures the Platform enables solutions to be delivered in a consistent, repeatable and reusable way consistent with the objectives of the Aged Care Transformation Program. 
14. Continuously evaluates existing and emerging software and services for potential inclusion/exclusion within the Platform. 
15. Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors of Platform software and services, ensuring software and services are right-sized, adequately provisioned in budgets, and licensing continuity is maintained. 
16. Preserves the integrity and security of the Platform, ensuring development is consistent with the policies, models, patterns, specifications of the Platform as a whole-of-government solution. 
17. Defines and tracks key metrics to measure Platform performance and success and use data-driven insights to iterate and improve products over time. 
18. Serves as an API and Integration Platform subject matter expert on the MuleSoft Platform, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external stakeholders. 
19. Collaborates frequently with MuleSoft Product Owners, Architects and Platforms Release Train Engineer (RTE) to guide the Agile Release Train (ART) toward successful delivery.  
20. Plays a significant role in ART events e.g. PI Planning, Inspect and Adapt activities and PI System Demos, actively imparting knowledge, collecting feedback, and addressing product-related issues. They may also participate as Business Owners, approving PI Objectives, assessing business value, and managing risks. 
21. Reports into the Overall Platforms Product Manager for the branch. 

 
Essential and Desirable Criteria 
Essential Criteria 

1. Proven experience (5+ years) as a Product Manager or similar role with demonstrated ability in strategic planning and execution within a large-scale IT transformation program. 
2. Successful track record of implementing an API first approach to delivery and a deep understanding of the full API lifecycle. 
3. Solid understanding of how to pragmatically introduce an API business layer into an existing SaaS 2 Tier application architecture. 
4. Deep understanding and experience in delivering Integration Platforms using SaaS products (Ideally MuleSoft and/or API Platforms) 
5. Deep understanding and experience in delivering and managing APIs that will be consumed by 3rd parties. This includes discovery and management via an API portal (Ideally API Community Manager) 
6. Successful track record of delivering Integration Platforms and products in accordance with Agile methodologies, ideally SAFe. 
7. Expert at managing competing priorities against the available capacity of multiple multi–disciplinary team members. 
8. Excellent communication and negotiation skills with internal stakeholders including executive. 
9. Demonstrated experience creating a collaborative, innovative and efficient working culture. 
10. Demonstrated experience of delivering Digital Platforms (As opposed to delivering projects/applications on Platforms)

Desirable criteria 

1. SAFe Certifications and/or experience working in a SAFe or similar environments. 
2. Product Owner certification 
3. Experience using Microsoft Azure DevOps, Microsoft TFS, Jira or Miro to manage project delivery. 
4. Active participation in relevant professional bodies or technology groups.
