Playgroup South Australia is a community based not-for-profit organisation a non-profit, community organisation committed to providing quality services and support to families with young children across South Australia. Our vision is to ensure that all children in South Australia are developmentally on-track.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced early childhood / family support / social work professional to join our committed, passionate and dynamic team on a temporary basis (for up to 2 years, based on funding).
How you will make a Difference:
This role will support two playgroups – Playconnect+ and a Supported Playgroup. As a Program Facilitator, you will play a vital role in providing trauma-informed and culturally responsive play and support to families / carers of children with disabilities and facing other challenges.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Program and facilitate weekly PlayConnect+ Playgroups & Supported Playgroups
- Promote Playgroups to encourage participation by families with children who have disabilities or developmental concerns.
- Ensure a trauma-informed, safe, and high quality playgroup experience, supporting families and children to build school readiness, social interaction, emotional regulation, and self-regulation skills.
- Collaborate with families and early intervention service providers to align play experiences with family expectations and specific child needs.
- Follow-up with families to encourage continued participation.
- Provide families with information on early intervention services and family support resources within their community.
- Liaise with early intervention service providers to support child and family participation.
- Collect registration, attendance, and outcome data, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
This is a part time (9 hours per week, on Wednesdays and Thursdays), fixed term employment opportunity until 30 June 2026, with conditions and salary at around Level 4.1 of the SCHADS Award dependent on qualifications, skills, and experience.
About you…
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to hold a relevant Human Services qualification such as Early Childhood, Family Support, Social Work, or similar.
You’ll have demonstrated knowledge and experience of working with children with disability or developmental challenges, ideally within a community setting, and will have extensive experience working within trauma-informed guidelines. You have previous skills and experience in adopting a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach to your work and to the playgroup settings.
You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with a diverse range of people including children, their families, communities, and other stakeholders involved in the care of the child.
You’ll need a current drivers licence and a reliable vehicle, as this role involves regular travel to attend playgroups within the Adelaide metropolitan area.
