Our organization is a well-established migration firm situated on Spring St, Sydney CBD.
We are seeking PLT students to assist senior staff in basic legal, administrative and clerical work.
Our office hours are from 9am to 5.30pm, Mondays to Fridays.
This position is unpaid. You will learn about our firm’s work, develop a sound understanding of existing migration practices and grow your professional skills and experience. You will gain a wide exposure to a variety of visa applications and AAT appeal matters. You will also be supervised.
Successful applicants will be required to perform administrative and clerical work, inclusive of but not limited to the following:
- Answering phone calls for senior staff
- Filling and posting of documents.
- Drafting basic application forms
- Drafting statements and basic submissions
- Performing legal research
- Facilitating meeting of deadlines
The internship can take between 8 to 12 weeks and be either part-time (at least 3 days a week) or full-time.
The successful applicant will meet the following criteria:
- Is eligible to work in Australia.
- Can demonstrate interest in Migration law.
- Have excellent attention for detail.
- Is responsible, honest and reliable.
- Has sound computer skills and strong organization skills.
- Works independently and is self-motivated.
- Has well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Is proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Can demonstrate ability in prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Is available for an immediate start.
A second language is desirable but not mandatory. Prior experience in LEAP or other legal file management systems is desirable but not mandatory.
