We have offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brisbane, with a team of lawyers and consultants who have extensive knowledge in the area of legal costing.
We are now seeking a PLT student to join our Sydney office. You will gain valuable experience while satisfying the practice experience requirements of The College of Law.
This position is an unpaid internship, with the possibility of ongoing employment.
Position Overview
As a PLT at Blackstone Legal Costing, you will play a crucial role in supporting the team and be responsible for.
1. Assisting with, but not limited to:
- drafting of documents, including bills of costs and costs statements
- preparing solicitor/client and party/party certificates of assessments
- compiling disbursement invoices
- chronology documents
- drafting notice of objections responses
2. Document quality control including editing, proof-reading, cross-checking, and formatting of documents
3. Undertake research of relevant legislation, regulations, and case law
4. Administrative management of legal files includes opening new files on practice management software, creating and sending service agreements, filing emails and documents, and updating file information on our data base
5. Preparation of files for costing
6. Topping and tailing bills of costs and costs statements
7. Preparation of invoices
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following experience/ qualities:
· Strong organisation and time management skills
· Strong written communication
· Proficient skills with MS Office, Excel and Word, Adobe and PowerPoint
· Must be self-motivated and be able to work as a team member and autonomously
· An understanding of the Australian legal system, including laws, regulations, legal terminology, and court procedures
