About the position:
The Plumber & Drainer position will undertake a range of plumbing and labouring works of a municipal nature.
The Apprentice Plumber position will assist in a range of plumbing and labouring works of a municipal nature including a broad range of civil construction and maintenance tasks.
Completion of an apprentice training program leading to a qualification as a Plumber.
- This is a permanent full-time position based at the Greenmount Depot.
- The base salary for this position is; Qualified - $1,225.91 gross per week, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation. 4th year apprentice - $1,050.81 gross per week, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.

About the Water Operations Team:
Water Operations forms part of the Water and Waste Services Group (WWSG), which also includes Water Infrastructure Services, Water Project Services and Waste Services. Water Operations is responsible for the operation of Council’s water and wastewater pumping, treatment, and distribution systems to ensure customer service standards and legislative compliance obligations are met.
The team encompasses personnel from various areas of engineering, operations and compliance. Our team believes in fostering a positive work culture based around quality outcomes, effective communication, transparency, professionalism and respect.
How to be successful in this position:
Qualification(s), training and/or experience, specific to the role:
Mandatory:
- Current Queensland Plumber/Drainer Licence or Current 4th year Plumber & Drainer (as per award).
- Current unrestricted ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
- Certificate in Backflow Prevention, or willingness to obtain within 3 months of commencement.
- Current Certificate in Confined Space, or willingness to obtain within 3 months of commencement. The ability to revalidate this certificate is also required.
- WHS Competency (White Card) for CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or equivalent, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
- Current First Aid Certificate – Provide first aid (HLTAID011), or willingness to obtain within 3 months of commencement.
Desirable:
- Current ‘MR’ Driver’s Licence.
- Relevant machinery tickets highly regarded.
- Certificate III in Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operation.
- Certificates of Competency, or a willingness to obtain and complete the relevant certificates within 3 months of commencement in:
- Traffic Control.
- Authorised Person.
- Workplace Spills.
- Environmental Awareness.
- Operate Quick Cut Saw and Concrete Saw.
- Asbestos Awareness.
