Position Summary
We are seeking a podiatrist with an interest in healthy ageing who is able to take referrals on a casual contractor basis. The position will see you working one on one with older adults in in their own homes, providing podiatry services to clients receiving Home Care Packages in metropolitan Adelaide.. Podiatry consultancy with this client group is primarily focused on routine foot and nail care, wound management, and recommendation of orthoses and medical grade footwear.
Inspire Therapy is an allied health provider focused on delivering community-based aged care across metropolitan Adelaide. Our commitment is to improving our clients’ function, participation in valued roles, and quality of life. You will be part of an allied health team consisting of occupational therapy, physiotherapy, dietitian, and podiatry. We are contracted to prove home-based allied health services to several Home Care Package providers.
We would like to hear from you if you are an enthusiastic and caring person who enjoys working with older adults. The role is ideally suited to an experienced podiatrist already in private community-based practice looking for additional flexible work. We currently have a podiatry contractor who is at maximum capacity. An additional podiatry contractor would pick up approx. 8-10 hours of clinical work per week. The work is flexible around your own schedule and your current clients. You would arrange your own appointments and follow up. You will need to supply your own instruments (fee reimbursed). We pay a generous hourly rate and paid travel time between clients, and we bill for time communicating with coordinators and ordering footwear.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a geriatric podiatry service for clients in their own homes.
- Professional, reliable advice to patients based on their health needs
- Recommendation of footwear and orthoses
- Liaison with other members of the allied health team, HCP coordinator, or GPs regarding client needs, concerns or risk factors.
- Accurate documentation of client reviews / observations
Skills and experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Podiatry and current registration with AHPRA.
- Cultural competence, particularly working with Aboriginal clients
- Knowledge of and passion for enabling healthy ageing
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Professional and caring nature
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to work independently
