Climateworks Centre is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that works with government, business and the community to drive Australia’s transition to a prosperous, net zero emissions future. We also support the development and implementation of low-carbon solutions in Southeast Asia, in alignment with Australian objectives and regional needs.
As the Policy Manager - International, you will be responsible for:
Lead projects which advance Climateworks policy work by undertaking research and engagement to influence policy making, with a particular emphasis on Southeast Asia
Provide strategic advice in the development of Climateworks’ strategy, business plan and policy influencing plans
Support the effective communication of Climateworks research by preparing and refining project materials using a range of mediums
Contributing to the development and implementation of strategies that build ambition and effective policy implementation by governments in Southeast Asia, including through engaging with the corporate and community sectors and other key external stakeholders
Build and maintain key relationships with government departments, business organisations, community groups, research organisations and professionals
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Extensive experience in strategic government relations and external relationships
At least five years of experience in international policy, preferably in the climate change or energy sector
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex policy influencing projects and initiatives, from design to delivery and evaluation
Strong communication skills, including experience in developing professional communication material and delivering effective presentations aimed at influencing or developing policy
A sound understanding of the political, economic, and social drivers and barriers to climate action in Southeast Asia, and the opportunities and challenges for Australian engagement
A high level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to Climateworks’ vision and mission
