We are seeking a suitably experienced, skilled and motivated individual to join our Safety and Quality team as thePolicy Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a meaningful and rewarding sector, supporting policy development and implementation to support quality improvement and excellent outcomes for our clients.
Position Purpose:
The Policy Officer is responsible for supporting the review/development, quality assuring and maintenance of allocated policies, procedures and supporting documents, in collaboration with relevant subject matter experts. The Policy Officer plays a key role in providing advice about and support in the development of policies and ensuring they meet relevant legislative requirements and changes.
Key duties/Accountabilities:
- Develops and reviews allocated policy, procedure and related supporting documents
- Provides advice, background research and support to subject matter experts and Policy Owners
- Ensures compliance with relevant Commonwealth and WA legislation, State and Federal policies, Australian Standards, professional standards of practice and any other compliance requirements.
- Supports and coordinates relevant policy consultation and liaison with internal and external stakeholders
- Works collaboratively with Policy Owners and subject matter experts
- Undertakes appropriate research, information gathering and analysis to supporting documents development
- Identifies, develops, and manages modifications and enhancements of the Brightwater electronic policy library
- Identifies and reports risks associated with any policies
- Coordinates the administrative aspects of policy implementation
What you will bring to the role
- Considerable experience in policy development, consultation, implementation, and evaluation.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with and support diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of information sources to identify appropriate, contemporary evidence to support policy development.
- Demonstrated ability to provide written advice to diverse stakeholders, with experience in the preparation of reports, briefs, business cases and project plans.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and work independently with minimal supervision when required.
- Awareness and understanding of the issues, legislation, standards and practices relevant to the provision of safe, high quality and person-centred care in aged care and disability services
- Well-developed skills in problem solving, the ability to organise and prioritise tasks, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines and use resources effectively, safely and efficiently.
- Working knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards and/or National Disability Insurance Scheme Practice Standards and Quality Indicators (desirable).
