Network, Desing and Integration is a Group within the Department of Transport and Planning, and is responsible for delivering transport priorities through the planning, development and maintenance of and integrated pipelines of projects and strategic initiatives.

About the Role


The Policy Officer in Freight Policy and Strategy contributes to key policy and strategy projects and initiatives relating to freight in Victoria. These projects are designed to deliver the Victorian Freight Plan: Delivering the Goods and contribute to the DoT vision of simple, safe connected journeys. The position will provide advice to senior management and Minister on these matters and will contribute to policy and budget submissions as required.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities


• Contribute to the development and provision of advice and sound policy recommendations to senior management and government.
• Undertake research and contribute to the development of a range of policy and initiatives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.

• Assist the monitoring and reporting on high priority issues, risks and trends and assist to prepare and present comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex issues.
• Support effective working relationships and the flow of information across the department and with key external stakeholders.
• Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
• Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience
Desirable

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant or a related discipline. Role Specific Requirements
• Driver's License (Highly desirable)
• Involve evening or weekend work including occasional overnight travel.
• You may be required to undertake a medical and other safety compliance requirement
