About the role
This position provides Positive Behaviour Support services to participants by developing Positive Behaviour Support plans and assessments that focus on increasing a person's quality of life, whilst minimising and eliminating (wherever possible) restrictive and other practices that impede on a person's human rights.
Duties include
- Provide PBS services to both internal and external participants by creating and reviewing personalized behavior support plans.
- Utilize evidence-based practices to assess and observe behaviors, aiming to enhance skills, regulate emotions, and introduce alternative behaviors.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement recommendations.
- Strategically support teams working with individuals and families with complex needs, offering training, coaching, and person-centered approaches.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures, identifying and managing risks effectively.
- Serve customers aged 0-65 with diverse needs including complex care, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, communication difficulties, and mental health challenges.
- Maintain a commitment to reducing behaviors of concern and minimizing restrictive practices.
- Collaborate with allied health practitioners, support workers, families, and stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Adhere to compliance requirements set by the Quality and Safeguarding Commission, including documentation and timeframe obligations.
- Engage in continuous development and reflective practice to ensure a contemporary approach aligned with regulatory standards.
Selection criteria
- Meet the requirements of the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework as a Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioner (essential)
- Bachelors degree in Psychology, Counselling, Board-Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBA), Occupational Therapy, Teaching, Social Work, Social Sciences, Childhood Education, Allied Health or other relevant area.)
- Knowledge and experience of contemporary PBS approaches and related models
- Experience of designing and implementing Positive Behaviour Support plans for people with complex support requirements
- Demonstrated excellence in managing competing demands and being responsible for holding a complex case load
- Understanding and commitment to working with communities to welcome and include all people as valued citizens
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, numeracy, and literacy
- Strong IT skills including ability to use portals, systems, and document relevant information
