If you want to help drive change and innovation within a dedicated team of people this is the job for you. The position of Post mortem Assistant (paediactric, perinatal and some adult) - will be a challenging and fulfilling role.
This position is located on the Randwick site of NSW Health Pathology. The surrounding area has beautiful beaches, cafes and many open green spaces; with direct transport access from central station via bus and the new tram system. The Randwick precinct is progressing into an area for both advanced academia, diagnostic medical work and research.
The site includes Prince of Wales Public hospital, Prince of Wales Private Hospital, Royal Hospital for Women and the Sydney Children’s Hospital.

What you'll be doing
Primarily the position will involve overseeing the mortuary facility at Randwick including maintaining the mortuary and assisting in the processing of predominantly paediatric and perinatal autopsies for the south eastern area. In addition, general duties for anatomical pathology will also be included.

- Demonstrated experience performing Post Mortems and any associated duties in a mortuary, as well as demonstrated experience in the area of Anatomical Pathology including an understanding of working processes and maintenance procedures in histology.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fundamental anatomy and physiology, and a basic understanding of medical terminology.
- Proven ability to work with the deceased in an environment that could be distressing, ensuring to raise any associated concerns and/or need for support, and adopt self-care strategies.
- Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner in a team environment, and to effectively communicate with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Display initiative and attention to detail in all aspects of clinical and clerical work practices.
- Commitment to the principles of continuous quality improvement activities, Work Health & Safety, and infection control guidelines.
- Willingness to work shift work and participate in an on-call roster, and travel in accordance with the demands of the role holding a current NSW driver's license.
- Demonstrated capacity to adopt and model the NSWHP RITE values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence.
