About the role
We are recruiting for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to research within the Centre for Quantum Software and Information (CQSI), focusing on algorithmic benchmarking for large-scale quantum computing systems. This program will involve close work with multiple project partners including major corporations in the fields of aerospace, automotive and bioscience and the quantum start-up sector, including major quantum computing hardware and software companies.
In this role you will analyse the utility of quantum computing for specific problem domains and to develop tools to allow for estimating the size of an error corrected quantum computer to implement useful, large-scale algorithms.
You will play a key role in conducting cutting-edge research and producing high-quality publications and supervising HDR students.
Whilst participating in research activities, you will also be involved in writing and preparing grant applications and forging relationships with industry and institutions.
About you
As a Postdoctoral Research Associate, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience in any of the following topics: algorithm development for quantum simulation, optimisation and related fields. Circuit compilation and resource estimation, error-correction and fault-tolerance, architecture design for large-scale quantum computation. Other requirements will include:

• PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics

• Proven publication record.

• Ability to develop competitive grant proposals or industry links and projects

• Mentor PhD students

Remuneration/Salary
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $88,273 to $107,511pa (Level A)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
This position is full-time and an appointment will be made on a 12 month fixed-term basis.
