ABOUT THE ROLEThis role is a permanent position on a Monday-to-Friday basis. This role will be based at our head office in Perth with the flexibility to work from home as per business needs.As Practice Lead Safety - Vehicle Energy Risk, you will be responsible for global leadership of South32 Risk and Safety approach and design of the fatal risk in specialist fields for Vehicle Energy Risks.The role forms a key requirement of South32 meeting its Breakthrough 1, Guaranteeing that everyone goes home safe and well, and transitioning to quartile 1 safety performance.Key responsibilities include:

• Developing Group mandated controls to manage Vehicle Energy risks and conducts deep dives in operations and relevant functions, assuring minimum requirements are met
• Identifies improvements and reports back to senior management on assurance findings including incident investigations and monitoring improvements
• Provides stewardship over Vehicle Energy Risks across all South32 Operations and Jurisdictions. Contribute to the formulation of the safety vision, plan and strategy, with focus on identifying risk areas and opportunities considering the short, medium and long-term horizons

ABOUT YOUYou will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Extensive industry experience and technical expertise with an understanding of the risks involved in Vehicle Energy fatal risks and experience in risk management frameworks
• Strong communication and listening skills when collaborating with multiple stakeholders face to face and remotely
• The ability to work in a team environment and share knowledge and leverage key skills as well as being able to work autonomously
• Demonstrated experience in change management and business improvement
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing business needs and circumstances - There will be 2-3 business trips per year

Qualifications for this position are:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent tertiary level qualification (Science/Engineering \/similar)
