Battery storage market is booming in Australia and NHOA is extending its global leading position to the region. As Pre-contract/Construction Manager you will be part of the NHOA Australia team and key member of global construction function actively contributing to ambitious growth targets of NHOA Energy in designing, crafting and delivering to our Clients world class turn-key Battery Energy Storage Systems.
As a seasoned professional, you will hit the ground running and you will work in a multidisciplinary team, in a dynamic and growing company. You will be accountable and responsible (i) to define the constructability and construction management plan for future BESS projects and (ii) to scout, select and contract single general contractor or multiple contractors, based on the contractual scheme, to whom construction activities will be sub-contracted. Moreover, in coordination with the Head of Construction and Civil Engineering you will be responsible for construction function in Australia and future resources to be integrated in construction function based on business needs will report to you.
The successful candidate is an experienced Construction Manager familiar with EPC contracts, industry common practices and with a proven record of construction and/or project management. He/She will be based in Perth. He/She will be hierarchically report to VP Australia & Pacific, and functionally reporting to Head of Construction and Civil Engineering.
Tasks and Duties:

  • Accountable for the construction management process during the tender and pre-execution stages up to the hand-over to the delivery team.
  • Accountable and responsible for the definition of the constructability and relevant construction management plan of BESS projects based on project requirements, local standards and industry practice.
  • Accountable and responsible for scouting, selection, management up to the contract signature of general contractors and/or contractors in order to define the best techno-economical offer and delivery package for NHOA’s Clients.
  • Accountable and responsible for the hand-over of construction package to delivery team once a project is started and the relevant contract with general contractor/contractors is signed.
  • Accountable for scouting and prequalifying local contractors to be involved during the tender and delivery stages and with whom possible partnership/collaboration agreement can be envisaged to boost commercial/delivery capacity in the geography/country.
  • Accountable for defining and optimizing costs and budget regarding construction activities to be integrated in the overall project budget.
  • Accountable for defining: (i) an optimized construction schedule to be integrated in the overall master schedule based on project requirements, (ii) the construction plan and resources profile defined together with general contractor and/or relevant stakeholders.
Your background:
  • Educated to Bachelor’s Degree level in a engineering disciplines (preferably civil engineering degree).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in this or similar role.
  • Previous employment as a Construction or Project Manager in EPC projects.
  • Knowledge of High Voltage substation works especially in terms on installation sequence.
  • Knowledge of key contractual aspects for the management of EPC Contract and General Contractor’s sub-contract.
  • Willingness to travel for business trip and site visit.

  • Proven experience in a very similar role, and immediately recognizable as an expert in the field.
  • Methodological approach.
  • Strong technical background in energy, renewables and ideally storage.
  • Excellent digital proficiency.
  • Comfortable with working in different cultural environments.
  • Excellent communication and leading skills; goal-driven, methodical yet with flair and lateral thinking.
  • Proficient knowledge of the industrial and project execution processes of industrial equipment & solutions.
  • Strong understanding of the energy industry, especially renewables and preferably storage.
  • Good understanding of non-technical requirements and success factors in renewable projects in general.
