The Role
We are seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant to support our Primary students to reach their full potential. The Primary Teaching Assistant is responsible for supporting the Teachers in the delivery of the curriculum and to ensure that each student is given every opportunity to achieve their full potential.
To be successful you will be committed to getting the best outcome for all students with a focus on implementing strategies that assist in meeting their needs. You are able to communicate and work with a broad range of people in a professional manner. You will be able to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation of a nurturing environment which reflects the student’s backgrounds
- Assisting to promote a positive and challenging learning environment
- Play a major role in ensuring that the learning environment is safe and non-threatening at all times
- Provide one-on-one or small group support sessions to Learning Enhancement students
- Maintain a positive and supportive relationship with parents, whilst leaving all in-depth professional discussions regarding a student’s progress to the Class Teacher
- Inform students (where appropriate) of behavioural expectations and encourage students to follow the class behaviour management system and College rules.
- Consult with the teacher regarding requirements for the teaching programme on a daily basis
• Prepare and/or set up daily, the necessary materials/activities according to the written programme and teacher directions
- Previous experience in a similar role desirable
- Professional and courteous manner with parents, staff, students and visitors to the College
- Certificate III in Education Services
- First Aid Certificate including CPR
- Must hold or be qualified to obtain current Blue Card
