The Applications Management team, Statewide Network Operations is responsible for the use of, and access to, a range of applications that help manage, control and respond to events on the road network across the state.
In your role as Principal Advisor some of your responsibilities will include:
- Project management and contribution to the development of strategies, processes and practices for the delivery of responsive high quality Intelligent Transport Services to support road operations and traveller information.
- Develop and implement effective stakeholder engagement and consultation strategies to ensure applications, processes and practices are aligned with our vision of creating a single integrated network.
- Provide leadership to project teams and contribute to the management needs of direct reports.
- Research, analyse and provide expert advice and options on application architecture/s and supporting third party contracts and relationships.
- Prepare and present written reports, briefings, evaluations, submissions, correspondence and so on to senior management and key stakeholders on matters relating to technology systems and supporting third party contracts.
- Consult, liaise, negotiate and maintain effective relationships with other units within the department, other government agencies, local government, industry, the community, the private sector and other stakeholders.
- Assist in the strategic and business planning process.
- Lead, monitor and actively pursue the response to corporate governance items including Business Continuity Planning, Systems Roadmaps, ICT Risk and Audit responses for Operational Systems.
To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Experience in the provision of Intelligent Transport Services to support road network management and traffic and traveller information.
- Experience in contract and vendor management (desirably ICT related).
- High level application management (such as ITIL) and project management experience (such as PRINCE2 or other) with a proven track record of delivering timely and high quality outputs.
- Strong analytical and technical skills to foster continuous improvement in the efficiency of systems and technologies.
- Ability to encourage others to implement better approaches to address problems and opportunities; ability to lead the implementation and acceptance of change within the workplace.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills coupled with the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions to a variety of audiences and to gain commitment from key stakeholders to support ideas or take action.
- Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
