Randstad are currently assisting a QLD Govt Dept who are seeking an experienced AO7 Principal Advisor to join their team for an upcoming project on an initial contract until 31st December 2024. Join a small team working on the delivery and reporting of funding programs to non-state schools. Your opportunity As the Principal Advisor you will provide support to the non-state sector on a range of issues and provide high level strategic advice and analysis about policy, programs and legislation relating to the non-state sector, and assist in administering a range of funding programs. The Principal Advisor reports to the Manager, Office of Non-State Education, Portfolio Services and External Relations. Your role responsibilities include:
Lead or participate in a range of project teams and coordinate project team work.
Provide high level policy advice on current strategic issues, programs and legislation pertaining to the non-state sector, including the preparation of submissions, briefings and responses to official correspondence.
Contribute to program and policy research, review, analysis and development activities relevant to the non-state sector and support for students with disability.
Contribute to the management of capital assistance programs, including budget monitoring and accountability matters.
Administer funding programs for community organisations, including budget monitoring and accountability matters.
Participate in and report on the development and validation of funding models and periodic and special reviews for:
Recurrent grants;
Grant disbursement methodologies;
Capital assistance programs; and
Community organisation grant programs.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with key clients, contacts and organisations within the education sector, other government agencies, and external bodies.
The ideal candidate will have experience including:
Strong writing skills to prepare government briefs and reports, and presenting complex information in easy to digest formats such as dashboards
Strong funding experience, including experience in MS Excel, assessment of financial accountability reports and calculation of payments
Experience working with content databases including extracting queries
Engaging with internal stakeholders on policy and/or program development, delivery or challenges
