Position Descriptor:
Ernabella Anangu School is one of nine Anangu schools situated in the far northwest corner of South Australia in the Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands. The Pukatja (Ernabella) community is in the eastern Musgrave Ranges, west of the Stuart Highway, it is situated approximately 330 kilometres south west of Alice Springs and just south of the Northern Territory border.
Current initiatives are predicated on creating the conditions for sustainable empowered futures for Anangu. These include:
1. promote and support mindsets which and support high expectation
2. `Anangu First approach to co-planning, with the 2 way science approach as the first stage;
3. Culture and language first in the timetable (every day) and integrated with curriculum;
4. Active and intentional emphasis on bilingual learning & language acquisition, and
5. Culturally safe & trauma informed practices.
The successful applicant will be required to have a comprehensive knowledge of effective approaches to engagement and retention within culturally responsive and trauma informed frameworks. Knowledge and experience in leadership of teaching and learning in remote indigenous learning contexts is an advantage and the ability to connect with Anangu Educators and community will be beneficial to the role.
In addition to the salary, the following financial incentives apply:
