Apply for this jobWe are looking for a Principal Database Engineer with expert-level database engine knowledge who is passionate about solving complex problems related to database infrastructure at scale to join our Product SRE group. An ideal candidate is someone who is aware of the latest database industry trends, particularly those related to reliability and scale.
You are an experienced leader who will own technical standards and collaborate closely with your teams to drive initiatives that will enhance system reliability and contribute to the overall success of the technology stack and future product scale. You will also be responsible for conducting deep root cause analysis for critical issues and designing and implementing corrective actions to mitigate future occurrences.
We'd also love it if you brought a deep understanding of modern Cloud infrastructure, programming expertise, operational experience and a desire to change the status quo!
Experience working with high-volume OLTP databases
Expert-level proficiency in scalability and performance tuning databases, with a good understanding of PostgreSQL internals
Good knowledge and development experience in one or more prominent languages such as Java, Go or Python
Experience with public cloud relational database offerings (Amazon RDS / Aurora, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL)
Experience conducting complex root cause analyses and implementing mitigation strategies
Strong desire to stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies related to reliability engineering
An ability and desire to mentor and coach engineers
Experience in building using non-database public cloud offerings (AWS components like EC2, CloudFormation, IAM, S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis - or equivalents, e.g. in GCP or Azure)
An ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional development teams and stakeholders
