About the BranchThe role of the Carbon Markets Branch is to provide insights, solutions and advice to decision makers, policy makers and the market to improve scheme operations and position the agency as a modern, efficient and effective regulator. The branch:
- Provides advice, support and action on complex scheme implementation and design issues.
- Coordinates and drives policy development and change.
- Supports the agency to create a data-driven culture that identifies external trends to inform strategic decisions and supports business transformation.
- Increases confidence in the carbon and renewable energy markets by highlighting the role of our schemes and understanding the international context.
About the SectionThe Economic and Market Analysis section:
- Monitors, analyses, publishes data and provides insight on economic carbon markets trends to inform the agency’s decision-making and administration of the Renewable Energy Target and the Emissions Reduction Fund.
- Provides analysis and data for a range of reports and products including (but not limited to); the RET Administrative Report and Annual Statement, LRET project pipeline and other LRET supply and demand data, the auction ACCU pipeline report, renewable, carbon and energy efficiency prices, Senate Estimates, quarterly performance reporting.
Role Responsibilities and Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:- Delivering quality and influential economic advice and insights on Clean Energy Regulator schemes, Australia’s carbon and renewable energy markets and broader economic trends that impact Australia’s target to achieve net zero by 2050.
- Proactively engaging with clients and stakeholders to gain a range of market and whole of economy perspectives and intelligence.
- Lead research into emerging issues and trends that will impact our schemes and carbon markets.
- Managing and developing 1-3 team members to deliver complex data, analysis and products to a high standard.
- Leading and delivering strategic projects where required.
Qualifications/Experience- Tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce or business highly desirable
- Experience in communicating complex matters and market trends simply and with influence highly desirable
- Experience in, or ability to lead teams to deliver complex data analysis
