About the QCAA
The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) is a statutory body of the Queensland Government established under the Education (Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority) Act 2014. In collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders and partner agencies, the QCAA plays a critical role in the design and delivery of education in Queensland.
The QCAA is responsible for kindergarten guidelines and senior secondary syllabus development, and for providing resources and services to help teachers develop curriculum, teaching and learning programs from kindergarten to Year 12. It also provides testing, assessment, moderation, certification, and vocational education and training services to Queensland's education community.
About the team
The Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) Unit is part of the QCAA's Assessment, Reporting and ICT Systems Division. The AARA Unit is responsible for the development of complex and sensitive processes and systems required by QCAA to successfully administer AARA for students undertaking senior assessment in Queensland schools.
Your key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- develop internal processes required to manage QCE and NAPLAN AARA applications, decisions, and appeals, and create consolidated documentation to support the consistent application of approved AARA arrangements by QCAA staff in the future
- participate in project teams to develop professional resources responsive to the needs of Queensland teachers in accordance with current data and QCAA initiatives
- develop and deliver professional development to schools, as part of a team, including face to face training, information sessions and webinars
- provide expert advice to Managers and Directors within the division on issues related to AARA.
- liaise with government and non-government educational agencies, parent groups, medical representatives, schools, disability advocates and other stakeholders on assigned projects.
- support the development of strategies to enhance the knowledge and understanding of AARA practices by QCAA staff, and to develop a greater organisational capacity to respond to enquiries.
- prepare briefings, submissions, policy documents and correspondence as required, and provide regular advice and updates to the manager.
