Literacy is essential for learning and is linked to academic, social, emotional, economic and health outcomes. An exciting opportunity exists to join the Literacy and Reading team to develop resources that support schools to implement an evidence-informed approach to literacy and reading, as well as, best practice across the phases of schooling.We are seeking two enthusiastic Principal Project Officers with current P-6 teaching experience, a deep understanding of the Australian Curriculum, expert knowledge and practical experience in evidence informed best practice approaches to the effective teaching and monitoring of reading, and an understanding of the Department’s key literacy monitoring tools and initiatives.Job details Position status Permanent

- provide high level strategic advice to senior management and clients that supports the implementation of the Australian Curriculum;
- scope and develop a range of resources to support key literacy and reading initiatives;
- undertake research and consultation with a diverse range of stakeholders to inform the development of support materials and resources and ensure alignment to Departmental policy;
- contribute to briefing materials, submissions, papers, reports, communications and correspondence;

- A deep knowledge of the Australian Curriculum (v8.4 and v9) and contemporary curriculum, assessment and pedagogical practices;
- A deep knowledge and practical experience in evidence informed best practice approaches to the effective teaching and monitoring of reading and literacy;
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and achieve required outcomes within set timeframes;
- Capacity to engage with a wide range of stakeholders; and
- High level written and oral communication skills.
