Randstad is partnering with SA Water to find a passionate and skilled Principal Engineer - Dams to provide technical expertise and guidance. In this role, you will oversee and execute high-level technical investigations, designs, and governance procedures related to water and wastewater standards and infrastructure. Your focus will be on ensuring project success by adhering to time and budget constraints, offering specialist design, and providing technical governance for optimal outcomes.
As a Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) in Dams engineering, you will influence and contribute expertise across the corporation, working with both concrete and earth dams. You will maintain high engineering proficiency, delivering exceptional design, advice, and technical auditing services for SA Water's capital projects.

Your new role:
- Provide specialist design and technical governance for SA Water Dams projects, ensuring time and budget adherence.
- Lead the Dams safety review and upgrade program to achieve safe and successful outcomes per ANCOLD requirements.
- Offer timely, accurate, and cost-effective information and documentation to customers.
- Evaluate and recommend new and emerging technologies for adoption by the Corporation.
- Collaborate effectively within the Dams engineering discipline team and across multi-disciplinary teams from our technical partners.
- Lead the review and update of SA Water's technical standards and guidelines for Dams engineering aspects.
- Drive awareness in the Safety in Design (SiD) process through coordination with Asset Management, Program/Project Management, WHS, Operations, Design, and Construction teams.
This is an integral part of the engineering team ensuring the projects are delivered to compliance and safety in design standards, as the Principal Engineer of the Team you will need the following to be successful:
- Tertiary qualifications in Dams, Civil, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Postgraduate qualifications is desirable but not essential.
- Extensive experience in the investigation, option, concept, and detailed design of Dam infrastructure, including both concrete and earthen dams, at a high professional level.
- Practical application of ANCOLD guidelines and risk management of dam safety projects.
- Experience in executing novel, complex, and critical engineering investigations and designs in the Dams discipline.
- Development and ongoing review of technical and infrastructure standards.
- Recognition of discipline expertise by Engineers Australia is essential.
- Detailed knowledge of Dams engineering procedures and practices as applied to the water industry and large engineering organizations is desirable but not essential.
