The OpportunityElectraNet is seeking a highly motivated Principal Protection Engineer in a full-time position to join our growing Assets division in Adelaide, South Australia. In this leadership role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the ongoing compliance, performance, and resilience of our protection services and secondary systems infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities of this role includes but not limited to;
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for Protection services and secondary systems infrastructure.
- Lead the development of Asset Class Strategies, Functional Requirements, Asset Design Manuals, Standards, and Project Scopes.
- Champion the adoption of new practices, detailed design, and plant selection.
- Manage existing and emerging risks associated with construction, commissioning, installation, testing, and operation.
- Influence internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions that optimize asset performance and resilience.
- Leverage your understanding of asset lifecycle management to ensure effective asset register management, maintenance requirements, and inventory control.
As a Principal Protection Engineer, you will have:
- Minimum 10 years relevant experience in the energy industry (i.e. transmission, distribution or generation) with expert knowledge of transmission system components, performance and operation.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
- Experience leading strategic innovation, development and implementation of engineering standards and processes to meet regulatory and corporate requirements and to position the business for growth.
- Expert understanding of asset life cycle management principles, whole of life asset and infrastructure systems from concept, design, installation, operation and performance, maintenance and disposal.
- Expert understanding of protection and secondary systems required for affective operation of HV Transmission networks.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and mentoring to others, and positively contribute to a collaborative and constructive culture.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to enable you to provide commercially sound and pragmatic solutions.
- Be a member of or eligible for membership of Engineers Australia.
- Chartered status with Engineers Australia highly desirable.
